Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hawaii Whole Person Healing Collective, LLC.

In the most direct sense, Hawaii Whole Person Healing Collective, LLC is the medical practice of Dr. Christopher Lawinski, MD.  I called my practice a “collective” because, in order for healing to take place holistically, the entire macrocosm of community and universe needs to participate.  I chose the name to remind my patients that healing takes place on the level of the whole person, which invokes the mind, body, spirit, and macrocosm of community and universe.

What are your clinical credentials?

I graduated with MD degree from University of Pennsylvania a School of Medicine in 2006 and completed Residency Family Medicine in 2009.  I’ve maintained licensure in the State of Hawaii since 2009 and maintained Board Certification in Family Medicine from 2009 to 2016. I am currently Board Certified in Integrative Holistic Medicine since 2016 and Certified as a Tribal Practitioner with the First Nations Medical Board since 2019.

What type of Medicine do you practice?

Integrative Medicine incorporates holistic modalities, naturopathic modalities, and emerging or experimental modalities that represent breakthroughs on the cutting edge of medical knowledge and practice.  Some of the most popular and relevant modalities that I practice include:

• Longevity Medicine

Detoxification Medicine

Functional Medicine

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Intravenous Nutrients

• Nutritional Optimization

Ozone Therapy

Stem Cell Therapy

Field Control Therapy (Homeopathy)

Cold Laser Therapy

This is a partial list.  I am bringing in new modalities and new technology into the clinic everyday.   I only particle medicine that is in my professional opinion both safe and effective.   Some of the modalities are not available to the general public and are offered under private membership agreement only and are supervised by the First Nation Board of Medicine as opposed to the State Medical Board.

Do you take insurance?

I learned in my medical training that insurance payers often control the practice of medicine by deciding what to reimburse, therefore making it difficult for physicians to innovate and still get paid. Therefore, I decided when I started my own practice not to take insurance.  At this time clinical services are private pay only. I am enrolled in Medicare as an “opt-out provider” which means I can accept private pay and still get Medicare to cover labs and tests. For insurance besides Medicare, most labs and tests I order are also covered by the patient’s insurance, same as in network provider.  Certain exceptions apply regard state Medicaid programs. For most PPO insurances, patients can get partial reimbursement for seeing me as an out of network Provider. Many modalities and procedures I perform are not covered by any insurance.

What is a private membership organization?

Some medical services are not available to the public and instead are available through private membership only.  Patients seeking certain treatments will be asked to join the “Turtle Healing Band” a private membership organization founded by the Crow Tribe of Indians as Authorized by Tribal resolution.

This is an arrangement which designates a medical practice of being outside the scope of the State Medical Board, and instead falling within the jurisdiction of the First Nation medical Board.  THE FNMB has experience overseeing modalities that are too new or experimental to be familiar with the State Medical Board which oversees medical practice for the general public.
